A Smile a Day

Firstly, I’m not a mental health expert at all. I just want to share a little something that’s helped me through some everyday lows and a few tough times.

So it sounds silly, and almost too simple – but everyone knows the phrase “grin and bear it” and it’s genuinely such good advice. I did some research into the science behind smiling and discovered that smiling releases endorphins that make us feel happy, as well as lowering the body’s levels of stress hormone. And believe it or not this applies to fake smiles as well.

So when I’ve really been struggling,¬† I just smile at the wall. It takes will power but it’s always made me feel better. I’m not saying this will solve all your problems, but for a quick fix there’s no beating it.
